“Romance”
Original Golden Era Style Country Ballad • Sung by Country Cate
This is a classic country tune about romance, cinema, and losing hope. Lyrics: [Verse 1] Every Saturday night on that old twenty-five inch screen, I’d watch the leadin' man sweep that lady right out of her shoes And I prayed that I might grow up to play the woman in that scene Now it's plain to see that dream just won't come true Then I met a boy in high school and he auditioned for the role To be that leadin' man to make my dreams come true The hats hit the ground, his knee hit the floor and I knew deep in my soul So I said "you got the job", and that September I said "I do" [bridge] And the first few scenes went just like they were s'posed to We had a baby and bought a house outside of town But behind the scenes he got harder to get close to And then we saw that big red curtain comin' down [Chorus] And now the credits, are rolling and the lights are getting bright Rotten tomatoes gave us a one star out of four And now I said it, I'm going, it's time to exit, stage right And I don't believe in romance, anymore [instrumental break] A year passed by and I decided to hold auditions again For a movie that was sure to top the charts With a man who as it turns out was just better as a friend He tried to let me down easy but it broke my heart [bridge] And this movie didn't turn out like it was supposed to And I watch those old time movies in my gown I pulled out your picture and thought to myself "this was almost you" Turned the tv off, sipped my wine and then laid down. [Chorus] And now the credits, are rolling and the lights are getting bright Rotten tomatoes gave us a one star out of four And now I said it, I'm going, it's time to exit, stage right And I don't believe in romance, anymore [Outro] No, I don't believe in romance anymore.
